Sisters and Brothers,
The following is a brief legislative update from TPFFA President Matthew Tomek:
- Cancer Presumption – The House of Representatives and the Senate have both unanimously approved the bill adding prostate cancer, breast cancer, and pancreatic cancer to the existing Barry Brady Act, which will make these cancers presumed to be a job-related illness if diagnosed. The bill will now be signed by the Speakers of each chamber and will head to the Governor for his action. See the bill history here.
- Military Leave – This bill has also passed the House and Senate unanimously and has been sent to the governor for action. State law allows employees time off for military duty. This bill will define a day as the number of hours worked in a 24-hour period. See the bill history here.
